02 Pillar Two
Leadership Development
Certified CliftonStrengths coaching, executive coaching and facilitated team development, so leaders lead from what is strongest in them.
01 Positional and Personal
Leadership Is Both Positional and Personal
Leadership Development is where Winning Within helps leaders strengthen both who they are and how they lead. Leadership is positional because roles carry responsibility, influence and expectations. It is personal because every leader brings their strengths, experiences, values and ways of working to the role. Effective development attends to both.
Engagements connect individual insight to practical leadership application, helping leaders communicate with clarity, make intentional decisions, build trust, navigate change and shape cultures where people can thrive. The work may include CliftonStrengths consulting, executive coaching, leadership development experiences and customized team engagements, shaped by the needs of the leader or organization.
Engagements are available in person and virtually, allowing leaders and teams across sites or states to participate in a shared development experience. Kansas City is the firm's base, not the boundary of the work.
02 Six Ways We Develop Leaders
Coaching, Cohorts and the Work a Team Does Together
01 Executive and Leadership Coaching Confidential, one to one coaching that sharpens self awareness, clarifies the decisions in front of a leader, and strengthens the way executives lead people through complexity.
The agenda belongs to the leader. It is usually the decision that keeps getting deferred, the relationship that has gone quiet, or the culture question nobody has said out loud yet.
Founders, executive directors, senior leaders and emerging leaders stepping into new influence all sit in this chair.
02 CliftonStrengths Coaching and Facilitated Experiences Certified strengths coaching that helps leaders and teams name what they naturally do best, then lead from it.
Coaching begins with the assessment and moves quickly into what the results mean for real decisions. A certified coach helps a leader or a team understand how their talents show up under pressure, and turns that shared language into stronger communication, collaboration and decision making across the group.
03 Leadership Development Programs and Cohorts Multi-session programs that cultivate intentional leadership practice over time, alongside peers walking the same road.
Most cohorts run across a season rather than a single day, so leaders practice between sessions and bring real situations back to the group. Length, cadence and cohort size are set in the first conversation, based on who is participating and what the organization is navigating.
04 Leadership Team Development and Alignment Facilitated work that aligns a leadership team around shared clarity, deepened trust, and the way decisions actually get made.
A common strengths language gives the team the same starting point. Facilitated sessions then turn that language into working agreements about communication, collaboration and accountability that hold after the session ends.
05 Executive Retreats and Leadership Intensives Focused, facilitated time away from the day to day for leaders and leadership teams to reflect, reconnect and reset direction.
A retreat is designed around what the team is actually carrying, never around a packaged agenda. Sessions run in person or virtually, so a team spread across locations does the same work together.
06 Strengths Based Communication, Collaboration and Decision Making Applied sessions that turn individual strengths into stronger communication, collaboration and decisions across the whole team.
This is the applied end of the pillar. A team leaves with language for how each person contributes, where friction predictably shows up, and what to do about it on an ordinary Tuesday rather than only on a retreat day.
The Strengths Position
Lead From What Is Strongest
When people can name what they naturally do best, communication deepens, trust strengthens and decisions improve. Executives clarify how they decide. Teams strengthen how they collaborate. Employees name what they contribute. Students discover how to move forward with intention. Strengths are not a label. They are a way of leading.

05 Questions
What to Know Before We Begin
i.
What Does a CliftonStrengths Engagement Involve?
A CliftonStrengths engagement helps leaders and teams identify what they naturally do best, understand how their talents influence the way they communicate, collaborate, make decisions and lead, and apply those insights to the work in front of them. Depending on the need, an engagement may include assessment, consulting, coaching, facilitated development and practical application.
ii.
What Is a Leadership Development Engagement With Winning Within?
A leadership development engagement with Winning Within & Associates pairs individual coaching with the work a team does together. It can include executive coaching, CliftonStrengths coaching, a multi-session cohort, leadership-team alignment, or a facilitated retreat. Every engagement is shaped around the leaders in the room and the season the organization is in, rather than delivered from a fixed curriculum.
iii.
Who Is Executive Coaching For?
Executive coaching at Winning Within & Associates is for the person carrying the weight of direction, culture, and people: founders, executive directors, senior leaders, and emerging leaders stepping into new influence. Sessions are confidential and one to one. The work sharpens self-awareness, clarifies the decisions in front of a leader, and strengthens how they communicate and build trust through complexity.
iv.
How Long Does a Leadership Cohort Run?
Winning Within & Associates designs leadership cohorts around the organization rather than a fixed calendar. Most run as multi-session programs across a season rather than a single day, so leaders practice between sessions and bring real situations back to the group. Length, cadence, and cohort size are set in the first conversation, based on who is participating and what the organization is navigating.
v.
Can Winning Within Develop an Entire Leadership Team?
Yes. Winning Within & Associates facilitates leadership-team development that aligns a team around shared clarity, deepened trust, and the way decisions actually get made. A common strengths language gives the team the same starting point, and facilitated sessions turn that language into working agreements about communication, collaboration, and accountability that hold after the session ends.
vi.
Does Winning Within Coach Leaders Outside Kansas City?
Yes. Winning Within & Associates is based in Kansas City, Missouri, and partners with organizations nationally. Coaching, cohorts, and facilitated team sessions are delivered both in person and virtually, so leadership teams spread across sites or states can take part in the same development together.
